"Make Your Own Zemi Artifact"
Currently, the 3rd and 4th grade classes are learning about the Taino Indians, who used to live at Cinnamon Bay here on St. John. The 4th grade visited the archaeological dig site at Cinnamon Bay and saw many interesting artifacts left behind by the Taino people. We are focusing on the zemi and it's significance in Taino culture. The students created their own zemi artifacts out of clay, complete with a primitive pit firing.
